A mother and child who were killed in a six-vehicle accident in Caledonia Friday afternoon have been identified.

Amanda Fleming, 28, and her three-year-old son Denver Sherk both died after their northbound SUV careened across a median and struck a transport truck while travelling on Highway 6 near the Grand River Bridge at around 2:50 p.m. Friday.

Their vehicle subsequently collided with four other vehicles, though nobody else was seriously injured.

Ontario Provincial Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.

At this point it is not clear what caused the SUV to cross the median.
