Another bout of warm weather is on its way Monday but winter isn’t ready to pack it in just yet.

Torontonians can expect a major temperature swing within the next 24 hours with a high of 20 C Monday and a low of -8 C Tuesday.

Monday’s warm blast won’t make for optimal patio weather either as rain is expected to make its way into the forecast in the afternoon.

Furthermore, ice pellets will arrive Monday night as the temperature plummets, bringing with it a risk of freezing rain early Tuesday morning.

Winter jackets will be required when the precipitation turns to snow Tuesday morning, potentially creating a messy morning commute for Torontonians.

The snow is expected to clear Tuesday afternoon with a high of 2 C.

“It seems very cruel but April really is that transitional month,” CP24 meteorologist Bill Coulter said.

“Sometimes you get these wild swings … We will see a nice rebound as we move toward the long weekend.”

The average temperature for the month of April is approximately 12 C but daytime highs will stay in the single digits for the remainder of the week.

Residents in other areas of the province are bracing for flooding with parts of Ontario potentially seeing 75 millimetres of rain by tomorrow.

The City of Belleville east of Toronto is under a state of emergency and some homes along the Moira River have been flooded.
