A woman is facing a careless driving charge after an Ontario Provincial Police cruiser was struck by a vehicle travelling the wrong-way on Highway 115 near Peterborough Wednesday afternoon.

Officers near an OPP detachment noticed a white Buick travelling north in the southbound lanes of the highway shortly after 2 p.m., OPP said in a news release Wednesday.

Police said the slow-moving vehicle was being operated by an elderly woman.

Officers managed to stop the Buick at Highway 7. However the vehicle rolled forward into a stopped police cruiser after the driver failed to put the vehicle in park, police said.

One officer sustained minor injuries while dashing out of the way to avoid the vehicle, police said in the release. The cruiser sustained minor damage.

Grace Miller, 82, of Peterborough, has been charged with careless driving.
