A 38-year-old woman has been charged after a woman wearing a hijab was punched, yelled at, spat on and grabbed while she shopped for food with her four-month-old son in a London, Ont. grocery store on Monday evening.London police said the victim was in the Superking Supermarket in the south end of the city on Monday at 5 p.m. when she was approached by an unknown woman.

The woman began yelling at the victim for “no apparent reason,” police said . The victim was then punched and spat on her and before her hijab was grabbed in an apparent move to yank it off of her head.

The suspect then fled the scene.

The victim suffered minor injuries, police said.

Police released several images of the alleged assailant on Tuesday.

At 10 p.m. Tuesday night, investigators said they arrested a female suspect in relation to this incident.

She has been charged with one count of assault. Her identity has not been released.
