Up to four houses are involved in a four-alarm residential fire near the Spadina Avenue and College Street area on Tuesday afternoon.

The fire started in the roof of a townhouse at 25 Major St. and several people have been evacuated.

Fire crews and emergency services are at the scene. One firefighter suffered a cut to his face and has been taken to hospital.

The homes in the area are about 100 years old, and constructed with old wood that is very flammable.

TTC buses have been set up to shelter people.
