KINGSTON, Ont. - Millhaven Institution, west of Kingston, Ont., is in lockdown while Correctional Service of Canada staff continue an exceptional search.

Assistant Warden Wayne Buller says a fight broke out among a group of inmates returning from the recreation yard on Friday evening.

Staff fired warning shots and deployed chemical agents to gain control, but they weren't able to get the offenders to return from the yard to their cells until five hours later.

Staff searched and found seven handmade weapons, and with the lockdown expected to continue for the rest of this week, all visits are cancelled.

One inmate was treated for non life-threatening injuries.
