The westbound Highway 401 express lanes have reopened from Highway 404 to Allen Road following a serious tractor trailer crash.

OPP Sgt. Dave Woodford says a truck travelling in the westbound lanes crashed into the dividing barrier just east of Yonge Street at about midnight. The highway reopened at about 10:30 a.m.

The truck, hauling two trailers, flipped on its side spilling its load of 5x10 particle boards cross the roadway.

Woodford says the truck is completely mangled after its driver made an "unpredictable maneuver" and crashed.

The truck driver was charged with careless driving and wet, icy weather was delaying the cleanup, he says.

Several other drivers were charged while attempting to take photos or video of the crash scene. One driver was even arrested on live television as seen in this story's video.
