Canada's realtors have approved changes to the rules that govern real estate buyers and sellers.

The Canadian Real Estate Association voted Monday on changes that will let homeowners tackle more of the home selling process on their own.

One of the changes would let homeowners list their property on the Multiple Listings Service database for a flat fee. Right now, only licensed agents are able to list properties.

People could then negotiate the sale of a home on their own.

The proposed changes are the result of concerns raised by the Competition Bureau.

More than 300 representatives from real estate boards across the country took part in the vote, held in Ottawa.
