A former TTC commissioner is stirring up controversy by distributing hundreds of bumper stickers taking aim at the McGuinty government's plan to put off funding for public transit.

Toronto city councilor Howard Moscoe is handing out bumper stickers that show a graphic of a man being stabbed in the back with several knives with the logo "Stabbed in the back by Dalton McGuinty".

He is criticizing the McGuinty government for reneging on their promise to provide funding to the Transit City project.

Moscoe says he's printed 1,000 stickers and has already distributed 500. He says the provincial government's "deferring" of funding is a "weasel way of saying get lost."

The deferral means the city will have to lay people off who are working full time on the subway lines, Moscoe says.

He says the city budget is paying for the stickers and it's been approved because he's promoting public transit.

The councillor has stuck the stickers on a few buses and it's making the rounds on Twitter. Anyone interested in the stickers can contact Moscoe's office.
