It was a happy ending for John Hildon and his best buddy Goldie.

The 87-year-old man had his heart broken Friday evening when a stranger snatched Goldie, an eight-year-old Bichon/Shih Tzu, during their nightly stroll in the city's east end.

The tears continued their free-fall Saturday night when police knocked at his door with a special surprise.

Undercover cops managed to find the culprit who grabbed Goldie and boarded a TTC bus heading south on Victoria Park Avenue. They brought the adorable pooch right back to her rightful guardian where Hildon wept tears of joy.

Thankfully, Goldie was found in good health.

For Hildon, the loss was a deep cut to what has already been a tough few years. He recently lost his daughter to illness.
