A controversial new edition of Now Magazine is sparking a war of words with City Hall.

The latest issue, which hit newsstands across the city today, features an article entitled "The naked truth about Rob Ford," and includes altered photos of the mayor in various states of undress on the cover and pages within the magazine.

Sources say that Ford has sent out a memo to City Staff requesting that all copies of the magazine be removed from city property.

Michael Hollett, editor and publisher of Now Magazine, described the move as theft and says he plans legal action.

"We're going to fight it," Hollett says. "We're not letting someone steal our property and hurt our ability to do business."

Adrienne Batra, press secretary for Mayor Ford, says that the entire situation is nothing more than a misunderstanding.

Batra says that an overzealous city employee sent out the email directing the papers to be removed from city property, but that a subsequent email was sent retracting the order, and that the mayor in fact had a chuckle over the article.

Hollett, who described Ford as "a disaster for the city of Toronto," added that this is not the first time a Toronto mayor has removed the magazine from city property. During his time as mayor, Mel Lastman removed the publication over concerns with advertisements in the magazine.
