BRAMPTON, Ont. - Peel Region police have arrested six men and two women from the Toronto and Ottawa areas following a human trafficking investigation.

Investigators allege the suspects had been forcing women and girls into prostitution.

Charges against the suspects include human trafficking and firearms-related offences.

Officers contacted 71 women through sex ads during a five-week investigation in February and March.

Police say six women and girls between the ages of 14 and 23 were rescued.
