Patrons at Toronto Pearson International Airport are facing significant lineups as they make their way through security inside Terminal 1.

An official with the Greater Toronto Airport Authority confirms that a work-to-rule campaign by security at the airport is responsible for the delays.

Those on the scene say the lineup to get through to customs is two to three hours long.

There have also been numerous reports of delayed flights as a result.

"The lineup looks like Disneyland on a bad day, and without the pleasure at the other end," Gillian Christie, a patron stuck in the lineup, told CP24 over the phone.

Employees began deliberately slowing down the security process this morning due to concerns over a new work schedule being implemented.

They returned to a normal level of efficiency around 3 p.m. when the Canada Industrial Relations Board ordered them to do so, according to a source with the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority.

Security guards at the airport are employees of Garda Global.
