A 58-year-old woman has been pulled from Lake Ontario near the Etobicoke Yacht Club after being submerged in the water for about 10 minutes.

According to Const. Tony Vella, the woman was in the area with her husband at around 1:30 p.m. when she leaned over the lake, trying to pull scuba diving equipment out of the water. She fell in and became submerged.

A number of divers who were in the area rushed to her rescue and managed to pull her out of the lake and call 911.

She was rushed to hospital without vital signs and is now in serious condition.

"We don't know what the outcome will be right now," Det. Lester Wright told CP24. "We're waiting to see what will transpire at the hospital."

Police are currently interviewing witnesses but are looking to speak with anyone who may have seen the incident unfold.

Wright said the woman's husband is "traumatized" but is cooperating with investigators.

Humber Bay Park is a popular spot for scuba divers, despite the rocky patches, Wright said.
