TORONTO - Scott Milanovich has spurned the Toronto Argonauts.

The Montreal Alouettes announced Sunday that Milanovich, the club's offensive co-ordinator and assistant head coach, is staying put. The Argos had offered Milanovich their vacant head coaching position Friday.

"I am excited to announce that I am staying with the Montreal Alouettes," Milanovich said in a statement. "I want to thank (owner) Bob Wetenhall, (president) Larry Smith, (general manager) Jim Popp, and (head coach) Marc Trestman for continuing to treat me like a member of their family."

Added Popp: "We are thrilled with Scott's decision to stay in our family. With all the enthusiasm coming from our 2009 championship, we're looking forward to starting the 2010 season!"

Milanovich will enter his fourth season with Montreal and third as the club's offensive co-ordinator. Last year, the Alouettes' offence registered at least 600 points scored for a second straight year while quarterback, Anthony Calvillo was named the league's outstanding player for the second consecutive season.

Milanovich's decision to stay put leaves the Argos still searching for a replacement for Bart Andrus, who was fired in December after leading Toronto to a dismal 3-15 record in his first season as a CFL head coach.
