NEW YORK - David Beckham has earned Major League Soccer's Comeback Player of the Year award for rebounding from a torn Achilles tendon.

The Los Angeles Galaxy star was limited to just seven MLS games in 2010, but came back to lead the Galaxy to the Supporters Shield as the top team in the regular season. The 36-year-old helped the Galaxy finish with 67 points, the second-highest total in league history.

Also Monday, Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena was named MLS Coach of the Year after guiding the club to a 19-5-10 record. Arena, who also took the honour in 1997 and 2009, is the first three-time winner of the award.

Beckham had 15 assists -- second in MLS -- in 26 games, scored twice, and earned his second all-star selection.

In addition to winning Comeback Player of the Year, Beckham was named to the MLS Best XI this season. The England midfielder's injury kept him out of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
