TORONTO - In a scene straight out of "A Hard Day's Night," a huge crowd of Justin Bieber's voracious fans kept the 17-year-old singer confined to his hotel room in Liverpool, England on Thursday.
Celebrity gossip site TMZ posted video of local police trying to steer the screaming throng, which gathered outside his hotel.
The website also posted a photo of Bieber climbing out onto his balcony to wave to his fans.
The two-time Grammy nominee was scheduled to perform in the Beatles' hometown on Friday.
Bieber also posted a picture of the British bedlam to his Twitter account.
He said he appreciated the fans' outpouring of support but also asked for quiet so he could take a nap.
"This is crazy," he wrote. "There are like thousands of people out there. Love everybody but gonna try and get some sleep. Please don't scream. LOL."
