A taxi driver who picked up the prime suspect in Jane Creba's shooting death is set to take the stand Monday, as the trial for suspect J.S.R. continues in Toronto.

J.S.R., who can not be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with second-degree murder in Creba's Boxing Day 2005 death.

The cab driver reportedly picked up the suspect and another man on the day of the shooting, which took place outside a Foot Locker store on Yonge Street north of Dundas Square.

Reports suggest police received a tip that day indicating two men matching a vague description of the possible shooters were dropped off at University Avenue and Dundas Street just minutes after the shooting.

The men were allegedly arranging to meet someone at Castle Frank subway station.

The man on trial, who is now 20 years old, can only be identified by his initials because he was under 18 at the time of the shooting.

On Friday, a police officer testified that when he saw Creba's body lying on the roadway, he thought she was dead. A day earlier, an officer told the court the girl's body was surrounded by young people trying to take photos with their cell phones.

J.S.R. has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder, six counts of attempted murder and other gun charges. He is the first of nine people to go to trial in the case.
