The security team behind the high-profile G20 summit in Toronto has completed its installation of surveillance cameras in the city's downtown core.

The closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras were installed in addition to the 18 security cameras that the Toronto police already have in place.

They have been placed at major intersections in the G20 zone along the following streets:

  • University Avenue
  • Queen Street
  • King Street
  • Richmond Street
  • Adelaide Street
  • Wellington Street
  • Front Street
  • Simcoe Street

There will also be a camera at Duncan and Pearl streets, York Street and Bremner Blvd., College and Bay Streets and Grenville and Bay Streets.

Surveillance cameras will also be running outside Toronto Police Headquarters at 40 College St. and 52 Division at 255 Dundas St. West.

The Integrated Security Unit, which is made up of the RCMP, OPP, Canadian Forces as well as Toronto and Peel's police service, will take down the cameras once the summit is over on June 27.
