Hundreds took over the tunnels underneath Toronto on Saturday to take part in the annual Walk for Memories.

The 2009 event in support of Alzheimer's wound its way through the path system, which started out at Brookfield Place -- the old BCE place.

Among those taking part was Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff. Event organizers are hoping to raise $400,000 for Alzheimer's research.

Meanwhile, the city buzzing with other events across town.

There's a food drive on today at Downsview Park. The Toronto Aerospace Museum and the North York Harvest Food Bank are teaming up to fill a Lancaster bomber with food.

In York Region, dog sled races are running on Saturday at the Kortright Centre in Vaughan. They're put on by the Siberian Husky Club of Canada.

In Yorkville, CP24's Nathan Downer is hosting the Legacy Festival tonight. It's a New Year's Eve style gala to count down to the beginning of Black History Month which begins tomorrow.

We're also celebrating winter in Toronto with Winter City taking place at Nathan Phillips Square.

There's no need to hibernate indoors, because there are concerts and events through the weekend.

Winter City runs for two weeks. The official opening ceremonies are tonight at 6:30 p.m. with Mayor David Miller. If you want to heat up inside, 150 restaurants are taking part in Winterlicious. They offer a prix fix menu and a chance to try food made by the best chefs in the city.
