A cyclist is facing charges after a female pedestrian was struck and knocked to the ground at an intersection Tuesday morning.
The woman was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries, Toronto police said Wednesday.
Police said the collision occurred within a crosswalk at Dundas Street West and Huron Street shortly before 11 a.m.
Three pedestrians were walking eastbound on the south side of Dundas Street when one of them was struck by a cyclist who was travelling south on Huron.
Toronto police Const. Hugh Smith told CP24 the cyclist was allegedly riding carelessly and that the pedestrians had the right of way.
The 49-year-old cyclist is charged with careless driving, a Highway Traffic Act offence.
Const. Smith said the charge carries a fine of up to $2,000.
