There's no end to the need at the Daily Bread Food Bank, which is holding a spring food drive this weekend to help collect Easter meals for people in need.

The food bank opened its doors on Saturday for a public sorting, where members of the public help organize donations and get an inside look at how the operation works. Volunteers sorted everything collected so far during the organization's spring collection.

The event was already packed full of volunteers by the early afternoon in what organizers are calling a display of Toronto's generous spirit.

Another sorting drive is set to take place on Monday and the food bank is inviting members of the public to take part. The organization is also short on food and cash donations to help supply 100 shelters and soup kitchens across the city.

The Daily Bread Food Bank is located on New Toronto Street, near Islington Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard. It serves food to nearly 80,000 Torontonians each year through various food bank and outreach programs.
