There is good news for motorists -- gas prices could drop tomorrow as much as eight cents per litre across the GTA.

Liberal oil industry watchdog Dan McTeague predicts a five to eight cent a litre drop in gasoline prices tomorrow because hurricane Gustav left oil facilities in the Gulf of Mexico undamaged.

McTeague is calling for the establishment of a transparent price monitoring agency when it comes to the cost of gas in Canada. He says the price at the pumps will be an election issue.

Oil prices fell in early trading by investors.

The price of oil dropped to about $8 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, suggesting traders were confident that the energy complex in the Gulf Coast suffered no major damage.
