Founded in 1987, the Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research (CANFAR) raises awareness to generate funds for research into all aspects of HIV and AIDS.

CANFAR is the only organization in Canada that operates for the sole purpose of privately funding HIV and AIDS research, and finances AIDS researchers throughout Canada.

To date, CANFAR has funded more than 400 HIV and AIDS research projects.

In 2010 alone, 700 000 AIDS-related deaths were averted thanks to treatment.

The rate of new HIV infections worldwide dropped 15% from 2001 to 2010; however, the rate of new infections in Canada continues to rise. By focusing on innovative awareness and prevention programs, we can reduce this trend.

As UNAIDS stated in their 2011 World AIDS Day report, “The world faces a clear choice: maintain current efforts and make incremental progress, or invest smartly and achieve rapid success in the AIDS response.”

Help CANFAR achieve rapid success. Invest in research, invest in a cure. FOCUS ON THE POS [+] VE.
