A solemn ceremony today at Harbourfront, as 14 more names are added to the Toronto Fallen Firefighter Memorial, including the firefighter who died during the Downsview propane explosion last August.

The memorial honours firefighters who have died in the service of the citizens of Toronto since 1848.

The 14 names added today are those of firefighters who passed away between 1970 and 2008.

Bob Leek, 55, collapsed and died at the site of the massive propane explosion, which left up to 3000 people homeless during asbestos removal, and prompted a number of safety investigations, zoning reviews and at least four class action lawsuits worth close to $1 billion.

There are 213 names on it, commemorating firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty, or died due to a work-related disease.
