Toronto saw its seventh homicide of the year Tuesday night when a young man died after being shot in the chest.

Early reports from the scene suggest the man called 911 himself after being shot near Glamorgan Park, near Highway 401 and Kennedy Road.

The victim was shot while inside an apartment building not known for criminal activity, according to its residents.

Fire crews and paramedics raced to the scene to help the man, who was in his mid-twenties, but they were unable to keep him alive.

A man was seen leaving the scene in a grey vehicle shortly after the shooting.
