BRESLAU, Ont. - The person killed in a helicopter crash at Waterloo's international airport has been identified.

Great Lakes Helicopter says 29-year-old flight instructor Tiffany Hanna was killed Monday during a routine flight training exercise.

A student who was also on board was injured in the crash and was taken to Hamilton General Hospital for treatment.

The student's name was not released.

Authorities said the helicopter went down in a pond and was partially submerged after the crash.

The Transportation Safety Board is investigating the incident.

Great Lakes Helicopter, which offers flight training, says the aircraft was a Robinson 22 Helicopter C-GVAR.

Jo Anne Leyburne, general manager of the Breslau, Ont.-based company, said staff are "saddened and shocked" by the loss.

"Tiffany was more than just an employee, she was a great friend and confidante," Leyburne said in a statement Tuesday.
