OTTAWA - The Vanier Cup game will return to Quebec City this fall.

Laval University has been selected to host the Canadian university football championship Nov. 23, Canadian Interuniversity Sport announced Thursday.

"We are very excited to return to Quebec City for the 2013 Vanier Cup," CIS president Leo MacPherson said in a release. "We are coming off a very successful Vanier Cup and we strongly feel staging the game at Laval next fall is the best way to build on that success and keep the momentum going as we get set to celebrate our 50th anniversary edition in 2014."

The Vanier Cup was previously played at Telus-Universite Laval Stadium in 2009 and 2010.

Laval defeated McMaster 37-14 in the 48th Vanier Cup last November. The game was played at Toronto's Rogers Centre in front of a Vanier Cup-record crowd of 37,098.

It marked the second straight year -- and third time in six years -- that the CIS championship game was held as part of Grey Cup Weekend in partnership with the CFL.
