Durham police are investigating after a teen was stabbed at movie theatre in Whitby on Sunday, in what is believed to be an isolated incident.

Four youths are wanted after a 15-year-old boy was stabbed at a movie theatre in Whitby, Ont., early Sunday morning.

It happened at around 12:40 a.m. at the Landmark Cinemas located at 75 Consumers Dr.

Durham Regional Police said they were called for an armed person call and found a 15-year-old suffering from “a significant laceration” when they arrived.

Following an investigation, police said the victim went to the theatre to meet with a girl he met through social media.

Police said he was approached by a group of youth when he was at the theatre, who demanded to give them his jacket.

“When he refused to surrender his belongings, one of the suspects produced a machete, struck the victim in the arm, and then the group assaulted him before stealing his jacket and cash,” the news release issued Monday reads.

He sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators identified three of the four youth suspects believed to be involved in the incident: a 13-year-old girl and 15-year-old boy from Oshawa, and a 17-year-old boy from Pickering. The fourth is an unknown male suspect.

Durham police said they have issued arrest warrants for two of the four accused.

Police believe this is an isolated incident.

Investigators are asking anyone with footage or information about the incident to contact them.
