A Hamilton police officer has been charged after allegedly breaching conditions while out on bail.

In a news release on Saturday, Hamilton police said the unnamed 47-year-old officer was arrested following an investigation by Halton police.

He has been charged with breach of recognizance.

The officer, who has been a member of Hamilton police for 18 years, was first charged in August 2025 in connection with a historical domestic incident.

He was charged with assault level 1 and mischief under $5,000. The officer was subsequently released on conditions.

Hamilton police said they will not be providing additional comment, as the case is now before the courts.
