A 58-year-old man has been charged after a cat was found “severely emaciated and bound” at a motel residence in Niagara Falls last month.
Niagara Regional Police said the Provincial Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) notified them last week about an animal cruelty incident.
Investigators learned that a concerned citizen took the injured cat from a motel in the area of Lundy’s Lane and Montrose Road late last month.
Police said the cat was later taken to an animal hospital but was euthanized due to its condition. The hospital then called PAWS, which initiated an investigation.
On Monday, police got judicial authorization to enter the motel, where they said materials used to bind the cat were found.
They then arrested 55-year-old Peter Krsul and charged him with causing damage or injury to an animal and bestiality.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
