Peel police have arrested and charged a 17-year-old in connection with a sexual assault that took place in a Brampton park earlier this month.
The incident happened on April 16, when the victim was walking on a trail around Loafer’s Lake Park and Camden Park East.
Police said the victim was approached by an unknown male suspect and grabbed without provocation.
The victim sustained minor injuries, police said.
A day after the incident, investigators released a photo of the suspect in an effort to identify and locate him.
On Tuesday, police announced that the suspect was arrested and charged with sexual assault.
He will be held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice.
The suspect’s name or identity cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Police ask anyone with information on this investigation to contact investigators with the 22 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau.
