A pedestrian is dead after a hit-and-run involving a pickup truck in Mississauga on Tuesday night.
It happened at the intersection of Winston Churchill Boulevard and Dundas Street West shortly after 6 p.m.
Peel police media relations officer Const. Moulika Sharma said the pedestrian was on the crosswalk when they were hit by a pickup truck travelling south on Winston Churchill Boulevard and turning west onto Dundas Street West.
Emergency services arrived, and Sharma said the pedestrian, despite life-saving efforts, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The pedestrian’s identity has not been released.
The driver of the dark-coloured pickup truck fled, Sharma said. Police have no further information about the vehicle and the driver.

“We are still at the very early stages of this investigation, and we encourage the driver to seek legal counsel and turn themselves in to the police. It’s just a matter of time until we get them,” she said.
When asked about the circumstances surrounding the incident, Sharma said officers were still gathering evidence, including surveillance video.
“There’s a lot of work going on diligently behind the scenes right now. We are trying to determine every single aspect as to what led to this incident,” she said.
