A 35-year-old man is wanted for second-degree murder after a man died from a stabbing at a party in Mississauga early Sunday morning.

It happened at a parking lot in the area Tomken and Kamato roads at around 4:55 a.m.

When officers arrived at the scene, they said they found a man with life-threatening injuries consistent with the stabbing.

Peel Regional Police said they attempted to perform life-saving measures on the victim, but the victim died at the scene. On Monday, police identified the victim as 47-year-old Kevin McFarlane from Bradford, Ont.

Acting Insp. Ian Plummer told reporters on Sunday that both the victim and suspect attended a party in one of the industrial buildings in the area. It is unclear at this time if they were known to each other.

In an update on Monday, Det.-Sgt. Gord Oakes said they are looking for 35-year-old Kevin Chippie of Brampton in connection with the incident. Chippie is wanted for second-degree murder.

“Investigators are urging Kevin Chippie to seek legal counsel and surrender to police immediately,” Oakes told reporters on Monday.

Oakes said he is known to police but not in any way related to Sunday’s incident.

Police describe Chippie as a male with a large build, long dreadlock hair, and has a tattoo of five stars on his upper cheek. He was last seen wearing a long black jacket and dark clothing.

“Kevin Chippie is considered armed and dangerous, and members of the public are being advised not to approach him and to call 9-1-1 if he is observed,” Oakes said.
