A suspect wanted in a stabbing in midtown Toronto on Thursday that left a man critically injured has been arrested.
The stabbing occurred near St. Clair Avenue West and Bathurst Street at around 10:30 p.m.
Toronto police said a man, for unknown reasons, approached another man from behind and stabbed him.
The suspect then fled the area. Meanwhile, when officers arrived, they found the victim suffering from stab wounds and was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Hours later, investigators released a photo of the suspect and on Saturday, they said he had been located and taken into custody.
The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Alexander Mikheil Jaenicke Maider of no fixed address, has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.
He is scheduled to appear in a Toronto bail court on Sunday.
