The TTC says the 510 Spadina streetcar is back in operation as of Saturday morning, after it was taken off the road earlier this week.

On Tuesday, crews identified an issue with the underground power supply and advised commuters the repair could take some time to complete.

At the time, TTC spokesperson Stuart Green said crews first learned of a possible fire in an underground power vault in the area of Spadina Avenue and Adelaide Street on Monday.

“Six hundred and forty metres of damaged underground electrical cables were replaced from Adelaide to Queen St. through multiple cable chambers along the Spadina corridor,” the TTC said in an update on Friday.

Replacement buses were running in the meantime to supplement streetcar service.

The TTC said on Friday that crews were wrapping up the repair work.

After a “bit more” testing on Friday evening, regular streetcar service between Spadina and Union stations resumed Saturday at around 5 a.m.
