Fire at waste management facility in Toronto’s east end being investigated as suspected arson

Published:

Firefighters responded to an early morning fire at a GFL transfer station on Unwin Ave. This is the latest of several incidents at GFL buildings.

Toronto police say a fire at a Green For Life facility in the city’s east end is now being investigated as suspected arson.

Toronto Fire was called to 200 Unwin Avenue, near Cherry Street, at around 1 a.m. for debris that was on fire at a facility in the area.

The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported.

Police told CP24 that the fire is now under investigation.

The fire comes just one day after a fire at a waste management facility in Etobicoke.

Police have not said if that fire is suspicious or if the two incidents are linked.
