Halton police are investigating after armed suspects forced their way inside a Burlington home and confronted residents who had been sleeping inside over the weekend.
The incident took place at a residence in Burlington’s Aldershot neighbourhood at around 2:40 a.m. on Sunday.
Police say that four suspects smashed a front window to gain entry, awaking the residents who had been asleep inside.
The residents, police say, went to investigate and were confronted by the suspects, who demanded valuables.
One suspect pointed a gun at a resident while another suspect held a knife to a second resident, police say.
The residents subsequently handed over several pieces of jewelry and the suspects fled the home. They were last seen getting into a dark coloured sedan.
Police say that there were no physical injuries reported.
The incident happened about 20 minutes prior to a violent home invasion in Oakville in which a hammer-wielding suspect confronted residents inside the home and demanded the keys to a vehicle parked outside.
At this point there is nothing to suggest that the two incidents are linked.
Police continue to investigate.
