Toronto police are seeking the public’s help in identifying an unknown homicide victim who was found inside a private garage last weekend in Cabbagetown.

Officers say they discovered the victim following a medical complaint in the area of Dundas and Seaton streets shortly after 9 a.m. on May 23.

In a news release, police say they were initially “flagged down regarding an unresponsive person located inside a private garage in a laneway.”

The victim was found with obvious signs of trauma and pronounced dead at the scene, police say.

Their cause of death was not disclosed.

On Tuesday, investigators announced they had charged 30-year-old Toronto resident Boubacar Dembele with second-degree murder. Investigators told CTV News at the time that Dembele has “no connection” to the private garage where the body was discovered.

The victim, who was initially described as a woman “in error,” was wearing a silver necklace with a heart-shaped pendant featuring wings and a single clear stone in the centre. The victim also had on a black jacket bearing the words “Vision Youth Leaders Program.”

Now police are hoping that new photos along with a digital restoration and approximation image can help with their investigation.

Anyone with additional information or who may recognize the victim is asked to come forward and contact investigators.
