Torontonians overjoyed the smoke is gone from the sky may want to seize the day Monday as thunderstorms are in the forecast this week.
After days of holding the title of having some of the worst air quality in the world among major cities due to the dozens of active wildfires in northern Ontario, IQAir says Toronto has “good” air quality.
“The invasion of dense smoke and haze has ended, at least for now,” CP24 Meteorologist Bill Coulter said. “We’ll continue to monitor the situation with northern Ontario forest fires and the prevailing wind direction for future local impacts.”
Coulter says Toronto is in for some seasonable weather on Monday, with some clouds peaking out later in the day.
Environment Canada says temperatures could reach a high of 26 C, with the humidity making it feel more like 29.
The national weather agency says there is a 70 per cent chance of rain by Tuesday around noon, with a risk of thunderstorms earlier in the day. The temperature is expected to reach a high of 24 C, with the humidex values feeling more like 32.
Coulter says Toronto’s skies will clear Wednesday, though the temperatures will dip slightly to a high of 22 C.
Thursday is expected to be sunny Thursday, according to Environment Canada, reaching a high of 26 C before dipping to 14 C in the evening.
By the end of the week, the federal weather agency calls for a mix of sun and cloud with 30 per cent chance of rain on Friday and cloudier skies by the evening.
