A 32-year-old man from Toronto has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder after a missing woman’s body was found inside a west-end home late last year.
Toronto police said on Dec. 20, 2025, at around 6:30 am., officers working on an missing persons investigation located a deceased woman inside a residence in the Queen West neighbourhood, near Strachan Avenue and Wellington Street West.
The woman’s death was subsequently classified as a homicide.
Police said the victim and the suspect were “known to each other,” previously stating that they were in an “intimate partner relationship.”
The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Himanshi Khurana, of Toronto. She is the city’s 40th homicide of 2025.
At that time, investigators announced that 32-year-old Abdul Ghafoori, of Toronto, was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for first-degree murder in connection with Khurana’s death and released an image of him.
In an Aug. 8 news release, Toronto police said members of their Fugitive Squad and Homicide and Missing Persons Unit liaised with national and international policing partners to facilitate the suspect’s return to Canada.
Ghafoori was located and arrested on Aug. 7, police said. He has been charged with first-degree murder. The charge has not been tested in court.
He was scheduled to appear in bail court on Saturday morning.
