A California man, 60, who orchestrated a cross-border drug-trafficking ring before he was busted by police in the U.S. and Canada will spend the next 10 years in prison.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced Davis, Calif. resident Parampreet Singh’s sentence on Tuesday for his leadership role in the Sacramento-based illegal operation, which they said dealt in cocaine, heroin, opium and ketamine in Canada.

According to court documents, the DOJ said Singh and his co-defendants, Ranvir Singh, 43, of Sacramento, Calif. and Amandeep Multani, 38, of Roseville, Calif. arranged their drug deals using encrypted apps.

Between October 2020 and April 2021, they coordinated sales to undercover officers totaling approximately 10 kilograms of cocaine, 1.5 kilograms of opium, two kilograms of ketamine, and multiple samples of heroin, which the DOJ said generated $637,600 in Canadian currency and $75,190 in U.S. currency, in deals in Canada and Sacramento.

The DOJ said that, between September 2020 and April 2021, Singh and his co-defendants also “repeatedly” offered to sell up to 100 kilograms of cocaine, up to 25 kilograms of heroin, up to 100 kilograms of opium, and up to 200 kilograms of ketamine.

The Drug Enforcement Administration led the investigation, which was assisted by York Regional Police (YRP) and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). CTV News Toronto has reached out to the Canadian police agencies involved for more information.

Singh pleaded guilty on Sept. 9, 2025 for conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine, heroin, opium, and ketamine. In addition to the prison sentence, he was ordered by U.S. District Judge John A. Mendez to forfeit US$2 million.

Multani pleaded guilty on Dec. 13, 2022, and the DOJ said he agreed to cooperate fully with the U.S. prosecutors. He was sentenced to time served on Dec. 10, 2025, after spending more than four years and eight months in custody.

Ranvir Singh was found guilty by a jury on Oct. 15, 2025 of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and ketamine and one count of distribution of cocaine. His sentencing date is scheduled for Dec. 1, 2026.
