Port Perry homicide victim identified as police charge 33-year-old man with murder

The victim of a homicide investigation in Port Perry has been identified as 32-year-old Taylor John Frey, police say 33-year-old Ryan Bullock has been arrested.

Police have identified a man who was found dead in Port Perry earlier this week, as they announce murder charges against another.

The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Taylor John Frey, of Port Perry. His death is Durham Region’s fourth homicide of 2026.

On Tuesday, at around 8 a.m., police responded to a sudden death call near Water and Mary streets.

There, officers found a male with traumatic injuries.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene, they said.

The homicide unit launched an investigation and identified a suspect, who was arrested at around 2:30 p.m. that day without incident.

Ryan Bullock, 33, of Port Perry, has been charged with second-degree murder.

He was held for a bail hearing.

Investigators say this is an isolated incident and there is no concern for public safety.
