A Toronto police vehicle is seen outside the scene of a homicide at Lawrence Avenue West and Bloomfield rive in North York on Oct. 4.

A man has been arrested, and another suspect remains wanted in connection with a murder in a Toronto Community Housing building earlier this month.

Toronto police said 31-year-old Leeroy Chikonyora of Toronto was arrested by the RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment earlier Thursday.

He has since been transported back to Toronto and charged with first-degree murder in the homicide of 34-year-old Christopher Gordon.

Police said Gordon was found with traumatic injuries in the fourth-floor unit in the building near Flemington Road and Blossomfield Drive on the morning of Oct. 4.

Police found a man inside a North York residence and said several people fled from the unit prior to their arrival.

Despite life-saving measures, Gordon was pronounced dead, police said. He is the city’s 30th homicide victim of the year.

According to police, the victim was not a resident of the building. It is still unknown why he was there.

In a news release on Thursday, police also said that Chikonyora is also facing a charge of obstruction of justice.

Meanwhile, homicide investigators are still searching for 32-year-old Cody Rudifo of Timmins.

He is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for first-degree murder.

“If located, do not approach and call 911. He is considered to be armed and dangerous,” police said.
