Toronto police are asking for the public’s help in locating three children who they say were abducted by their mother Friday morning.

Police said the children, 4-month-old Anastasia, 3-year-old Irina, and 6-year-old Daniel, were visiting a family member in the area of Midland Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East when their mother, 22-year-old Somerda Miclescu, took them.

22-year-old Somerda Miclescu 22-year-old Somerda Miclescu is driving a 2017 white Ford Expedition, police say.

Police said the visit was semi-supervised.

Miclescu is believed to be driving a 2017 white Ford Expedition with Ontario licence plate DJJS 875. Her location is currently unknown.

Police said she does not have legal custody of the children.

Miclescu is wanted for abduction by a parent. She is described as five-foot-seven, weighing 180 pounds, with long dark hair.

Police said she was last seen wearing a long black shirt and a dark-coloured top.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-4100.

When asked whether an Amber Alert would be issued, a Toronto police spokesperson said they don’t have that information available at this time.

“This would be determined by the investigators in which case they would go through the proper channels via the OPP,” the TPS spokesperson said.

CP24 Crime Analyst Steve Ryan said an Amber Alert is only issued when police believe the children are in danger.

“In this particular case, because there’s no alert issued, it certainly suggests to me that there is an abduction that took place … but they are not in any danger, and that’s why there was no Amber Alert issue,” Ryan said.
