A male driver has been charged with impaired operation of a vehicle following a collision in Oshawa on Tuesday evening, police say.

The crash happened near First Avenue and Simcoe Street South.

Durham Regional Police Service say they were called to that area at around 7:45 p.m. for reports of a single vehicle that collided with a light pole.

Investigators say the motorist suffered serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
