Thirty-three people are facing more than 330 combined charges in connection with more than 100 residential break-and-enters where more than $2 million worth of valuables were stolen in York Region.

The four-month-long investigation, dubbed Project Fortis, started on Nov. 1, 2025.

Project Fortis encompasses several break-and-enters York Regional Police (YRP) have highlighted in the past, Const. James Dickson confirmed, and focuses on the final results.

Police said they investigated crime groups responsible for break-ins in the region as well as throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

The investigation has led to 337 charges in connection with more than 125 break-and-enters so far, police said.

Investigators said they’ve recovered more than $2 million worth of valuables stolen in the dozens of thefts.

While many items have been returned to their owners, police said there is still property left unclaimed by their rightful owners.

York police are asking anyone who was a victim of a residential break-in from November 2025 to March 2026 to review the photos online and call police if they find something of theirs.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call YRP’s Integrated Property Crime Task Force or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
