Canada’s Wonderland says two roller-coasters that were shut down in the wake of a deadly incident at an amusement park in Atlanta “will remain closed for the time being.”
The Vaughan, Ont., park provided the update on its Leviathan and Behemoth coasters in a statement on Friday.
“As efforts to understand the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident continue, certain rides similar to the attraction involved in Georgia remain temporarily closed out of an abundance of caution. This includes Leviathan and Behemoth,” Canada’s Wonderland President Christopher Mortensen said in a statement.
He did not provide an exact timeline when the rides will reopen. Most coasters closed after the park’s Halloween events.

Earlier this week, one person died after being reportedly thrown from the Goliath coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia. The death led to the closure of at least 11 coasters in Canada and the United States.
In his statement, Mortensen said that the park maintains “rigorous inspection, maintenance, and operational procedures” and that its attractions undergo daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspections. He added that park staff also receive extensive training to operate the rides.
“While serious incidents of this nature are exceedingly rare, we never take responsibility to our guests for granted and remain committed to continuously strengthening our operations and safety practices,” Mortensen said.
“We appreciate the patience, understanding, and support of our guests and communities during this difficult time.”
Mortensen noted that all other rides and attractions that are scheduled to operate will be available to guests.
Canada’s Wonderland is a Six Flags property after the amusement park’s owner, Cedar Fair, merged with the theme park giant in 2023.
