TORONTO - Toronto police say a 36-year-old man is facing charges in the death of a 69-year-old man in a parking lot outside the victim's workplace.

Police originally believed the man died early Wednesday when he was struck by a reversing tractor-trailer in a lot on Marmora Street.

But investigators now say the man was knocked to the ground by a four-door Toyota car that fled the scene in a southbound direction before he was hit by the truck as he lay on the ground.

Police say the man, who was an employee of the business, suffered major trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of his injuries.

A 36-year-old man was arrested and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on Friday.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 416−808−1900.
