TORONTO - The man who fell 13 storeys from a Toronto apartment building on Christmas eve is lonely in his hospital bed says a friend.

Bakhtier Shaknazarov didn't know 21-year-old Dilshod Marupov before the accident, but has been visiting the young man almost everyday.

Shaknazarov says Marupov is still in the intensive care unit but is expected to move to a different ward this month.

He will face surgery and months of rehabilitation.

Shaknazarov along with construction unions and companies are trying to raise money to help pay for Marupov's recovery.

Four men died on Dec 24. after the scaffolding they were standing on broke while they were making balcony repairs to an apartment building on Kipling Avenue.
